The June class calendar is out!! We have added a specialty workshop on Wednesday evenings and have a workshop weekender over June 24 and 25th. The first series of Absolute Beginner Bootcamp continues this month and Salsa 101 and 102 are in their regular time slots. Summer is heating up !!
The Wednesday Workshop Series begins in June!! Supplement your Salsa dancing with specialized training!!
In this upcoming series, Tolu will be sharing his accumulated knowledge of musicality and partnerwork techniques, with expectations and responsibilities for both leads and follows in the dance. Tolu's aim is to give students the need to play with the music and allow their dancing to better express what the music is portraying. You are a reflection of the music and how you choose to reflect it is upon you.
Partnerwork is a two-way communication which requires a solid understanding of proper techniques for an effective dance. Many aspects of this such as spatial awareness, body placement, tension, footwork, timing, signals, frame, and inertia are key ingredients for leads to properly initiate a move and for follows to properly execute the requested move. Tolu's goal in the partnerwork section of the series is to provide tips on some of the techniques that both leads and follows can focus on in order to have an enjoyable dance.
A message from Tolu: As a dancer for 18 years, my love for Salsa has always been a source of joy and inspiration for me since I took my very first dance steps after moving to Albuquerque from graduate school in Boston. Dance for me is a reflection of one's personality and has helped to shape many of my philosophies on life. The opportunities I have had travelling over the world for Salsa Congresses in places like Paris, Milan, Tokyo, New York, and California, have helped to enrich my personal growth by learning from fantastic instructors as well as exposure to an amazing variety of music.

Excited and fortunate to announce a new schedule of classes, additional instructors to the RYT team, and a new studio space to meet the wants and needs of our current and future students.
“So if we look at progress, or evolution, or we look at accomplishment in our life, the key is to be continually moving on, expanding and growing, clarifying, developing and maturing. The opposite would be getting stuck, staying stuck, so there’s no maturing, no developing, no accomplishing, no movement.”
- Dennis Marzel
Starting May 1, Ritmo Y Tambor Dance Workshops New Mexico will be collaborating with a small, local business, and moving into the Peace Love Space dance studio with an extra offering of classes to meet all students’ needs as they grow their skills and personal development. Sara and Andre, your Albuquerque born and raised instructors, will be adding time to focus on the growing student base and we are honored to add our training partners to the instruction crew as Nancy Latuja and Kyle Spisak will be joining the team.
Tiffany Poth has owned Peace Love Space for 14 years and provides studio space for various dance and music groups. This beautiful, well-kept and polished studio space offers a sprung wood floor, mirrors, sound system, wifi and TV screen for video conferencing, along with an abundance of free parking all around the building.
Under partnership and education/instruction direction with Con Clave Dance and Lawrence Garcia and Jewel Hughes, we move forward with our 3rd partner, DJ Gabriel Goza to continue providing the city of Albuquerque and the state of New Mexico with Salsa dance training, workshops, and dance socials on a regular basis.

If you've ever thought about learning how to dance Salsa, this is the opportunity and the beginning you have been looking for.
Albuquerque Salsa dancing progresses this spring by bringing in and bringing up new dancers with a weekly Beginner series of classes. Developed for the absolute beginner and those who have just recently started their dance journey, the weekly 2 hour session will provide the consistency and repetitions of fundamentals and technique necessary to develop new and confident social dancers.
Local area dancers Sara Levin and Andre Martinez will lead the class under the direction of master instructor Lawrence Garcia of Con Clave Dance in Phoenix, AZ. On a weekly basis, Sara and Andre will be providing Lawrence's curriculum and technique as well as adding in some of their own flair and style to work with the development of intro-level dancers.
Saturdays from 1:00-3:00
The Workshop on 4th, 410 El Dorado dr. NW, 87114
$10 cash, Venmo, CashApp
On a weekly basis, fundamentals and techniques will be introduced and reinforced in a progressive manner.
Learn, recognize, and understand song structure and dance timing.
Become familiar with the beats and instrumentation within salsa music.
Develop unfound body movement and translate them to the dance floor.
Absorb the vocabulary of salsa/mambo footwork and create individual expression.
Develop the technique of connection and progress in leading and following partnerwork on the social dance floor.
On a week to week basis, there will be a reinforcement of concepts and techniques already provided with a gradual progression so new attendees can get accustomed, while regularly attending students can progress on their foundational build.
We'll see you in the studio, then on the dance floor.
